Defending Berkshire's countryside

What is CPRE Berkshire all about? In a nutshell it is an organisation for people who care very much about our Berkshire countryside and who campaign for it to be protected and enhanced for everyone.

 The countryside is one of England's most important resources and it is of course unique. No matter where you live or travel abroad you will never find countryside that matches it for variety, ambience or greenness.  It is always amazing too how despite England being the second most populated country in Europe (after Holland), you can walk across the Berkshire Downs, less than 50 miles from London, get away from it all and experience tranquillity and a strange sense of remoteness.

Those lines have never been more relevant to CPRE’s purpose than they are today.  If you want to keep it you have to do something about it.
